About Luca Toni:

Luca Toni is an experienced Italian footballer who possesses a distinct flair for scoring goals with pinpoint accuracy and is well known for his long and unsettled playing career as he has played for no less than ten clubs. His long illustrious career began at Modena in 1994 and from this date Toni has succeeded in playing successfully at different clubs most notably at Palermo and Fiorentina.

Luca Toni joined Palermo in 2003 when they were playing in Serie B and was one of the major factors in Palermo lifting the Serie B title and leading the club back to Serie A after a thirty year absence. In the course of the season Toni netted thirty goals for Palermo and his strong performances earned him a call up to the Italian national side. Toni’s impressive form continued for Palermo in Serie A as his goald scoring ability led the club to their first ever UEFA Cup qualification place.

Toni’s impressive strong performances earned him a move to Fiorentina in 2005 and he continued to excel at the highest level of Italian football leading Fiorentina to Champion's League qualification. However, due to Fiorentina's involvement in a match fixing scandal the team lost fifteen points and with those their qualification place.

Luca Toni's ability to score was prevalent in the 2005-06 season as the Italian maestro netted thirty one goals and in doing so was awarded the European Golden Boot. Toni stayed at Fiorentina for another season despite the disappointment of the match fixing scandal before he moved to Bayern Munich in May 2007 signing a four year contract.

Luca Toni plays for the Italian national side and has held the distinct honour of captaining the side when fellow team mate Fabio Cannavaro was out injured. Toni was part of the Italian squad that won the 2006 FIFA World Cup and scored two goals in the competition.
