About David Healy:
Idolised by his country's fans, Northern Ireland striker David Healy scored his way into the Northern Irish record books with 20 goals in his first 50 internationals including the goal that beat England 1-0 at Windsor Park in one of world soccer's all time shock results.
A combatative striker despite his diminutive size, Healy exhibits great skill and an unerring eye for goal which, matched with a fearsome will to win, has made him a national hero in the green and white jersey.
David Healy's club career has never really matched up to his international reputation though and despite having a scoring average of around 1 goal every 3 games for both Preston North End and Leeds United, Healy has never fully made himself a permanent fixture upfront for either club.
He has cemented a reputation as a fan's favourite at Elland Road though and, despite trying to shake off the tag of "Super Sub", has carved a name out for himself in being able to turn matches when coming off the substitutes' bench.
The appointment of his former international mentor Lawrie Sanchez as Fulham manager in mid 2007 saw Healy presented with a long awaited chance to show off his talents in the English Premier League. He signed for Fulham in the summer 0f 2007 for a little over one million pounds which represented an absolute bargain for the West London club and linked up with his international team-mates Aaron Hughes, Chris Baird and Steve Davis in Sanchez's new look Fulham side.
As David Healy approaches the prime years of his career there are a great many Northern Ireland fans who already consider him the best out and out goalscorer their country has ever produced and eagerly await him adding to his already formidable international scoring record.
