About Carlos Tévez:
Widely renowned and reported as one of the most promising strikers to come out of Argentina, Tevez has been compared to the likes of Diego Maradona. Hailing from a humble background Tevez had natural flair and ability for the game of football and joined Boca Juniors at the tender age of 13. At Boca Tevez enjoyed the taste of success lifting both the Primera Division title and the Copa Libertadores playing a key role as an influential member of the team.
In 2004 Tevez secured a move to Brazilian club Corinthians and initially had problems with settling into the squad facing animosity from the fans and the Club President. However these initial hurdles were overcome when his abilities on the pitch earned him the Captain's armband and he developed into an integral player within the team and was well rewarded when Corinthians lifted the Brazilian League title in 2005.
Controversy descended however when in 2006 with the transfer deadline looming Tevez and Javier Mascherano signed for West Ham United. This was a shock move for the pair and the worldwide footballing media were intrigued with many reporting that other major English Clubs were put off by the stipulations put in place by Media Sports Investments, the owners of the player’s contracts.
Tevez and Mascherano both struggled to adapt to the English game and found themselves unable to secure a regular first team place in the West Ham first team. Tevez spent long periods as a substitute and it looked more and more likely that his departure from the club was imminent in order to save his career. However, under new manager Alan Curbishley, Tevez began to impose his mark on the team establishing himself as an exciting and dangerous attacking force. His abilities earned him a regular place in the West Ham side and some have bestowed him with the distinct honour of being the main reason the club narrowly avoided relegation keeping them in top flight football.
A long drawn out transfer saga in the summer of 2007 looked destined for the law courts before West Ham finally agreed compensation with Manchester United and MSI and Tevez moved to Old Trafford.
Tevez plays for the Argentinian national side and recently participated in the 2006 FIFA World Cup and 2007 Copa America earning respect and admiration for his strong performances. It seems that Tevez remains a hot prospect with many commentators predicting we have only seem the tip of the iceberg in respect of his footballing genius.
