Anderson Luis De Abreu Oliveria more commonly known as simply “Anderson” has recently been in the media over his high profile transfer from FC Porto to Manchester United. Anderson was born in Brazil on 13th April 1988 and is regarded as one of the most promising young players in recent years.
Anderson began his career in football when as a youth he signed for Gremio making his first appearance for the club in 2004. Despite his young age Anderson has also made an impact playing for Brazil representing his country in the South American under 17 Championship and also in the 2005 under 17 FIFA World Cup.
Joining FC Porto in 2005 Anderson made his first appearance for the club in March 2006. He played a major role in helping Porto secure the League title and was well rewarded when in the following season he was a member of the team who participated in the UEFA Champions League.
His natural ability brought attention from the world's media as he was dubbed one of the hottest prospects in European football. This in turn sparked an interest in the young man from major clubs who began the race to secure his signature.
Anderson accomplished his move to Manchester United for the sum of £17 million in May 2007. However, the young man will have to prove that he can meet the challenge of Premier League football and gel with Manchester United players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and fellow newcomer Nani.
